Our Purpose
Beyond Our Boundaries is a recreation service company for adults with Developmental Disabilities (DD). Beyond our Boundaries offers trips to fun community locations, in hopes of bringing people with DD together for friendships, and to set the stage for creating an active, social life.
What do we do?
At Beyond our Boundaries we work hard to give your loved one an opportunity to make friends, learn new skills, become more social, and have fun with great people. Educational classes such as community skills, reading and math are offered in addition to a computer training class conducted in our own computer lab! Recreational activities include game night, dances, karaoke, theme parties, as well as day and overnight trips.
Why should someone choose services from Beyond Our Boundaries?
Beyond our Boundaries provides positive socialization options for adults with MRDD and the chance to connect with peers. Increased confidence and self-esteem are almost always a benefit for those who partake in our services. Beyond Our Boundaries ensures one chaperone to every four participants so you can rest easy your loved one will always be in safe hands.

About the Director:
Beyond Our Boundaries was founded in January, 2001 by Debra Shumard, a certified therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS). Deb taught ballroom dancing to couples groups & adults with disabilities from 1989-2004, & choreographs the Beyond Our Boundaries spring event—Join us April 28th, 2012!
Deb has served as a guardian for her younger brother Michael, an adult with autism, for 27 years, and is happy to meet with families who are considering Beyond Our Boundaries as an option for services.
